Corporate Publications and Policies

Corporate Plan

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums' Corporate Plan is a blueprint for activity, both for our venues and the organisation, covering five years up to 2014. It describes our mission, our vision for the future and our commitment to excellence. Through articulating our beliefs and our strategic aims, it describes the activities that will enable us to achieve these and the criteria by which our achievements will be measured. The plan has been generated in consultation with our key client bodies.

In short, it describes why we exist, what we will do, how we will do it, how we will measure it and by when we will do it.

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums' Governance Arrangements

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums' Local Code of Governance was developed from a framework document produced by CIPFA (in partnership with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation) and SOLACE, but the content is very much Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums' own. The six sections of the Code define how Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums complies with the six principles of good governance laid down by the independent commission on good governance in public services. Tyne & Wear Museums' first Local Code of Governance was approved on 28 February 2008. The Code is reviewed annually and the last review was endorsed by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums Joint Committee on 25 February 2010.

Confidential Reporting Policy

Many people, at one time or another, may have concerns about what is happening at work. More often than not these concerns are relatively minor and can be easily resolved. However, when those concerns are about unlawful conduct, financial malpractice or dangers to the public or environment, it can be difficult to know what to do.
Confidential reporting or ‘whistle blowing’ is about helping people to raise legitimate concerns or worries about Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums’ activities and practices.
TWAM has adopted this policy to make it possible for anyone who works for, or with TWAM, to voice those concerns. These issues will be taken seriously and treated on a confidential basis.
