Fort to Fort Walk
Sustrans and Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums present: The Fort to Fort Walk
Arbeia Roman Fort in South Shields to Segedunum Roman Fort at Wallsend.
9.15 am-5pm on Saturday 8 September 2012.
The walk is a seven mile stroll, with a chance to take in the sights as well as learn a little bit about the history and natural environment of the local area.
This is a guided walk led by trained staff members from Sustrans, a charity that promotes smarter travel choices, and supported by local history guides and museum staff. Beginning at Arbeia Roman Fort with a guided tour and then stopping off at Bede's World for a lunch-break and a chance to visit the Food and Harvest Festival Fair, the walk will take you through the pedestrian Tyne Tunnel, before continuing on to Segedunum Roman Fort.
No equipment necessary although we would strongly recommend comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing.
Free to attend - please note that lunches and refreshments are not provided.
