In July 2007, Tyne and Wear Museums and Tyne and Wear Archives Service began the 'Destination Tyne and Wear' project. Its purpose was, to reveal the 'hidden history' of migrant communities in Tyne and Wear; to look at the stories of people who have moved here and to explore how these people have helped to shape the identity of the region. The culmination of the project was an exhibition, and a cook book 'Sit, Eat'.
