Irresistible Forces
06 Mar - 16 Apr 2010
Irresistible Forces is a new exhibition by students from Newcastle University MA Art Museum and Gallery Studies. Presenting artists from a variety of disciplines including photography, performance, video installations, prints, etchings, oils on canvas and sculpture, spanning over 500 years of practice, from the 16th century to the present day.
The exhibition features the work of contemporary artists alongside artworks which have been loaned from the Hatton Gallery collection, including etchings by 18th century artists Giovanni Piranesi and Francisco Goya; 20th century painter James McBey; pioneering British abstractionist Victor Pasmore; English collage pop artist Richard Hamilton; and the politicised work of Catalan abstract expressionist Antoni Tapies - just a small number of items showcasing the range of internationally acclaimed artists featured in the exhibition.
A series of educational events and workshops will complement this exhibition. Join the Facebook group Irresistible Forces Exhibition, or follow them on twitter at www.twitter.com/IrresistibleFrc or regular updates and information.
