Get Involved

There are many ways in which people of all ages can get involved in the life of the Laing Art Gallery. Opportunities through classes, activities, volunteering and the friends' groups occur throughout the year.

Volunteers

There are plenty of volunteering opportunities available including acting as a guide, working with the learning team on family fun days or cataloging information.

Friends of the Laing Art Gallery

The Gallery has a thriving Friends group which has been established for over 30 years. By joining the Friends you will be supporting the Laing Art Gallery and will receive:

  • Regular information about the Gallery and related activities through the Friends' newsletter
  • Invitations to prestigious exhibition openings
  • Visits behind the scenes in the Gallery
  • Art trips both at home and abroad
  • Lively talks and special events
  • Visits to other collections and exhibitions
  • A vote at the Friends' annual general meeting
  • A gallery calendar of events.

Adults: £12
Joint membership: £18 for

Adult Classes

There are many short adult classes linked to our temporary exhibition programmes. Activities in the last year have included life drawing and talks by contemporary artists.

Family Fun

The learning team provide regular events at weekends and during the children's holidays to keep children of all ages entertained.
