Celebrating Mervyn Peake's 100th anniversary, the Laing Art Gallery proudly pays homage to Peake by displaying his illustrative work which is somewhat forgotten today. The illustrations will bring together some of his most beautiful illustration works in one of the largest Mervyn Peake retrospectives ever staged. Visitors young and old will delight in seeing much loved characters from the Gormenghast trilogy, Tales by the Brothers Grimm, Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of The Snark, Johann David Wyss' Swiss Family Robinson, villains from Robert Louis Stephenson's Treasure Island, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
An exhibition initiated and created by Maison d’Ailleurs museum of science-fiction, utopia and extraordinary journeys in Yverdonles- Bains, Switzerland.
