The Fishermen's Wives Association
"We used to have a Fishermen's Wives Association, we used to have meetings in the Mission"
We used to have a Fishermen's Wives Association, we used to have meetings in the Mission, we used to go out do fancy dress, collect around the pubs, we used to do sponsored walks, we used to do everything like that. I’ve seen a time when we used to have our summer fairs, summer fair on the Fish Quay and we’d walk around the boats when there was quite a few boats in the fleet, I used to come down and we used to get a fish box and tie a piece of rope to it and drag it around the gut collecting tins off the boats for our tombola stall so we could have a tombola stall on the Quay. I mean, just things like that, it was, you know, the spirit was there, everybody, everybody mucked in and did, not now. They don’t.
