"When the guns went, the maroons, everybody used to go lashing there"
When the guns went, the maroons, everybody used to go lashing there because at that time, the boat was pulled down with ropes. The lifeboat was pulled out of the shed with, with the two ropes, one at either side, like, and two ropes at the back to stop it running away. And you, everybody that could get hold of the rope and pull used to go down there, but that’s as far as I was involved, like. The crews- my father was in the crew in the pulling boat, and all the family was, senior members, were all in the crew, like.
