Sounds and smells
"When I hear, when I hear like BANG"
When I hear, when I hear like BANG, I don’t know, when I hear like a rocket go off or something like that I think, “is that the lifeboat?” or if I hear a big bang, I think, “God, has my pager not gone off? Is that the lifeboat?” My alarm, when my alarm goes off I sometimes think it’s my pager going off. Other than that, not really, if I hear, you know, the noise we were getting in there, like the radio noise, if I hear that, just little things like that.
Interviewer: And what about smells?
Rubber. Rubber off the dry suits and yeah, probably just that. And fuel of the, do you know when the fuel’s burning and, well, when you get the smell of the exhaust and stuff on the lifeboat and you can smell the fuel and fumes, petrol fumes and everything like that.
