Moving to the North East
"Well, I came up to stay with a friend in North Shields after I came out of the army"
Well, I came up to stay with a friend in North Shields after I came out of the army. I was in the army for five years and served in the Korean War with him and he got wounded, but we kept in touch afterwards and he asked me if I would like to come and live up here and so he said, “come up and stay with us.”
And actually, my wife at one time was his girlfriend but they parted ways quite a while before I came on the scene, and we got together and got married and of course Josie’s from a fishing family, so I got involved in, because I came from the country, the seaside and the boats and things like that were all Greek to me.
