Changes at the RNLI
"Well, Iím fortunate enough to have come to Cullercoats before everything did change"
Well, Iím fortunate enough to have come to Cullercoats before everything did change, when they had a big lifeboat, you know, and it was, used to pull it out by ropes, they pulled the trailer out by ropes and it ran down a ramp and then they put a tractor behind it and pushed it into the sea. Iíve seen big changes from them, from the two or three big boats that theyíve had, and the equipment the lifeboatmen wear. We used to fire the rockets to call the lifeboatmen - now theyíve all got pagers and they can be there in minutes.
