"Well, my girlfriend at the time, she’s my wife now, she got a job at Richmond"

Well, my girlfriend at the time, she’s my wife now, she got a job at Richmond, we were living in Darlington, so, and I decided to explore, see what the surf was like and actually came over to Saltburn and met Nick Noble whom I had met before in a surf contest, you know, and he was hiring surfboards from the beach at Saltburn.

A year later, I worked for Nick just during the summer period and about 1996 we decided to get a bigger van and started selling more wetsuits and surfboards.
