Practical jokes part two
"But I had a, not a practical joke, but I had a rather humorous..."
But I had a, not a practical joke, but I had a rather humorous...I’m bearded and have been since 1956. I saw a top end bolt falling from a, or sliding from a top end bearing that held the transverse beams, and it may have hurt someone had it fallen out altogether, so I climbed up hastily on the, onto the entablature and grabbed the bolt and pushed it up into place and got someone to tighten the nut up, put a nut on, tighten it up, so that it wouldn’t fall and it was only when I came to move away I found I had nipped my beard under the head of the bolt. Of course it was hilarious to the men up on the top and they said they wouldn’t turn the nut off and of course when I got my knife out to trim the beard, they slackened off. But they thought it was a huge joke.
