25 Yearsí Service Watch
"The watch. Rumour went round the yards, I was down in the North Sands shipyard at the time, rumour went out that a gold watch was going to be dished out"
The watch. Rumour went round the yards, I was down in the North Sands shipyard at the time, rumour went out that a gold watch was going to be dished out to anyone having 25 yearsí service. And they never turned out to be gold watches, they were very good quality Seamaster watches, but they were stainless steel. They found that there were that many people that had served much more than 25 years, I mean, 25 years- they were newcomers, They just couldnít afford the amount of gold watches they would need, so we all got stainless steel.
They were very good watches, mind, Iím still wearing one after, 1987 when I, 1985 when I got the watch and itís now, how manyís that, thatís, thatís 30, 20 years. Anyway, itís still going strong.
