George was born in Monkwearmouth, Sunderland. His name changed to Geordie Beard when he joined Doxfords in 1957. George describes his time at Doxford's as a pleasure.

This watch was given to George by British Shipbuilders in 1985 for 25 years of service. Rumour had gone round the yard that the watches would be gold, but there were too many people that served 25 years or more.
