Sound of the buzzer
"I know the buzzer, oh yes. When that buzzer went, if you didn’t get to your clock card"
I know the buzzer, oh yes. When that buzzer went, if you didn’t get to your clock card, you, I think you were allowed about a minute, that was it, you couldn’t start, you had to go to the foreman to sign your card and he wouldn’t allow you to start, apprentice, anyway, until eight o’clock. You had to sit about. In fact, the old fellows used to tell me that if you didn’t get there in time, the gate was closed, you went home, you didn’t get paid, you just went home and come back the next day. That was a good incentive to get you there on time.
