Well, there’s, at Souter, they have a chart which dates back to 1695 which was made by a gentleman called Captain Grenville Collins and this chart shows this part of the world from Sunderland, along the coast to Blyth and it also shows the River Tyne as it was in 1695.

And when you look at that chart you learn an awful lot how the area used to be, and you learn how it has really changed and how the Tyne is basically an artificial river. Nice, fine chart- something special.
