The value of the gansey
"The gansey is unique in itself, like, the wife or the partner actually makes the gansey"
The gansey is unique in itself, like, the wife or the partner actually makes the gansey for their loved one who’s going out and about looking for people and it has the difference of, if you decided that, yes, somebody, like one of the younger generation decided that yes, they wanted to go and they wanted to have one and they went to a shop and bought one, it doesn’t have the same feeling behind it as if, sort of like, a partner or a loved one has actually made it for them. Because it’s got the difference of, when husband or partner are out and about in the cold weather they know that they’ve got a jumper on that their loved one has made to keep them warm as opposed to thinking that, “Mrs. Smith down the road, or from Grimsby, she’s actually made it for us as well,” they can turn around and say, “well, my wife made this for me,” you know, and there’s all the love and affection that goes with it.
