Starting to dive
"I wanted to go down and see the fishes on the Barrier Reef"
I wanted to go down and see the fishes on the Barrier Reef, because I had been snorkeling and I just wanted to go down among them. And so my kids bought me the course for Christmas and I took, because what happened was I said to my husband I wanted to dive, and I said, ďdonít tell anybody,Ē because I didnít know if I could make it, you know. And he told them and of course at Christmas I got [interrupted] I got this course, you see.
And then, like I say, went to the shop and Karl, I mean he admitted, after I had done it, that he didnít think I would be able to do it, because itís not dead easy and so, anyhow, I went and I started the course and then went up to Beadnell and went in the water But never mind, I got my ticket and, and my younger son was so proud of me he bought all my gear for me, so I was able to continue.
And then, then I went on the Barrier Reef, and magic. We, I saw ten foot manta rays and sharks and all the little fish, you know. You couldnít imagine- the biggest aquarium in the world, you couldnít imagine. It was absolutely fantastic. And, and then I came back and last year it was back to Beadnell. But itís, we go up on a Sunday morning and itís, itís really nice, you know.
