Jean Dougal began diving at the age of 68. She regularly attends pool sessions and dives off the North East Coast during the summer months.
Jean was interviewed by Carl Greenwood on 6 March 2005. The interview took place at Fenham swimming baths and lasted 10 minutes and 15 seconds.

"Not as many as men. But yes, there’s four or five go regularly on a Sunday morning"
Not as many as men. But yes, there’s four or five go regularly on a Sunday morning, you know, and they’ve all been diving, they’re all younger and they’ve all been diving longer sort of thing. But, but I’ve never made to feel odd among them, you know, they’ve all been super, sort of thing, and you always get a dive, you know. You don’t go up not get a dive- Karl will see that you go in the water if you want to go.
