Changes to Cullercoats Bay
"Well, yes, because the, they’ve modernised quite a bit of it and there used to be lots of things that are not there anymore"
Well, yes, because the, they’ve modernised quite a bit of it and there used to be lots of things that are not there anymore, like there was a big swimming, swimming hut, bathing hut at the south side and things like that. And of course there’s no boats now- it used to be full of, full of boats, fishing boats, you see, and there are none now, there’s only one and that’s about all there is. One or two little crafts go off. It’s all, now, it’s all skis, what do they call them? Jet skis and things like that and surfing and all that sort of thing. But the little bay’s, it’s quite safe for children, but people don’t come for holidays now, they don’t. Just come down if it’s a fine day. You know, they can choose their day, where they used to come, people used to come from all over down here for their holidays, for a week’s holidays and spend the whole time on the beach.
