"I was involved in the first Apprentice Strike, ever in the World"

I was involved in the first Apprentice Strike, ever in the World, because you weren’t allowed to go on strike as an apprentice and that lasted two days. We wanted more money, basically we were getting peanuts. They were going to sack us all, and the union turned around and said, “well if you sack, you’ll have to sack everybody in the company, all 1200 of us because we’re all go out.” So we managed a two day strike and that was it, that was as much as strikes, you know, we had a few disputes but we didn’t have massive strikes.
