"Well, when I was 21 I got a ship company to take me where I had a medical, and I failed a medical through a disability"

Well, when I was 21 I got a ship company to take me where I had a medical, and I failed a medical through a disability- they said I wouldn’t be able to climb up the engine room ladders, but as people will tell you I had no problems whatsoever but it was insurance purposes. Well, I had a friend and we served our apprenticeship together and he promised me one day that if ever he got the chance, he’d get me to sea. And that chance did come later in life, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
