Routine meetings at Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade
"We usually come down every Wednesday just for a bit chat"
We usually come down every Wednesday just for a bit chat, maybe a bit of training, see some new people. Every month there is a formal drill, which is on even months of the year on Wednesday, on odd months it’s on a Friday. And the following Monday after each of those drills, there’s a committee meeting. And the committee meets downstairs in the committee room where we’ll sort out various things that need to be sorted out. The captains tend to look after the men, and there is a house committee which I happen to be the chairman of as well, and then there is the main committee. The TVLB was formed into a company limited by guarantee so although we’re a committee we’re also the directors with the limited liability of a pound.
