That, the lifeboat they had during the war, the Westmoreland was a very busy lifeboat because lots of convoys, food convoys used to come into the Tyne and they used to get bombed, especially, there was a period in 1941 when that boat down there, saved over a hundred lives, you know; lift men, burning oil, lifting out of the water, what have you.
I was a, I can remember, I didn’t see anything but I can remember conversations, worried conversations between family relating what they had done and had seen. Children weren’t supposed to be listening but you could tell there was something awful happening, you know. Them times you used to feel worried when you were young, but, I can’t say that I worried much else during the war.
