"It was originally this black and white mixture but on the photographs in the Brigade House they were all navy blue"
It was originally this black and white mixture but on the photographs in the Brigade House they were all navy blue, this very dark blue, and it was a wool that was called a wossit, which was an oiled wool, and that’s the one I made, the ones I made have got the nearest we can get now to the, this wool, which is a very fine wool- it’s five ply, and it’s, as I say, it was knitted on number 12 needles so it’s quite, it’s tightened, water, well not waterproof but strong, you know.
Interviewer: Did you have to order that especially?
Yes, I got that from Newcastle and the shop ordered it in for me.
