The Queen's visit to the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade
"She came on October 14th, 2005 and as the car drove up, the sun broke out"
She came on October 14th, 2005 and as the car drove up, the sun broke out and everyone was so happy and relaxed and Her Majesty was absolutely charming and I had the honour of being presented to her. She was, she met every member of the brigade and the families and children were in the garden and she went into the brigade house, signed the portrait, and came out and went into the garden and just spoke to everyone. And we had Colin Ross the Northumbrian piper piping her as she first arrived, piped her into the Brigade. And it was just absolutely wonderful.
One of the young boys, his Grandma asked him what he thought of the Queen and he said, “she was alright- she was nice, but the car was fabulous!” And it was just, just lovely and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and everyone was relaxed, the weather was nice, it was just a day to remember forever, really.
