"Now, I come in most days"

Now, I come in most days. Sometimes I don’t manage- if on one day I’ll get like a dozen loaves of bread and bring them in- it saves Paul. We used to have a mission man and an assistant. He doesn’t have an assistant- he can’t do everything. So if we can do a stint and we help, we can. I can’t cook, by the way, they found that out. I can take the money, and I manage the till, I’ll burn the toast- not just a little bit- black. So they’ve realised I have my limitations. I’ve done a stint where if they want somebody to look after the mission while Paul’s out doing something else, I have a set of keys and I’ll let them in and make sure they’re alright, make sure they’ll have a tea or a coffee or whatever. And that is because I, I try to help. They have helped me and they are still people who need help, whether they are pensioners, whether they are families who have lost folk, there is still an awful lot of work for them to do, so I come here, I enjoy it. When it does eventually close and they move to a different building, it’ll be very, very hard and I don’t know what I’ll do apart from cry.
