Being knocked overboard
"I first went to sea in a drifter. I went overboard, you know, I was knocked overboard with a rope"
I first went to sea in a drifter. I went overboard, you know, I was knocked overboard with a rope, and I’m lucky to be here, really, because nobody saw me go over, and then somebody seen me floating, or they thought it was an old oilskin, and then when they looked for me where I was working, I wasn’t there, so they pulled me aboard, like, you know. And I was very lucky that somebody seen us but it was bitter cold- it was off Dover.
