"I think it’s a sense of belonging to something that’s helpful"

I think it’s a sense of belonging to something that’s helpful. I mean my father’s had 30 years at sea in the Merchant Navy, and thankfully he’s never been in serious problems or serious collisions- he had a minor run in with a Japanese fishing boat, but I think with having that background and also living so close to the coast that I thought when it was offered, I thought it was a worthwhile thing to be involved in. And I think it’s just a sense of belonging to something worthwhile, and then not having to be paid for it is, we all want to do it because we want to help people. And it’s a good bond, a good, good, a good community to be part of.
