"Well, I mean, talking about in the old days, all commercial gear was uncomfortable to wear, especially the hard hat"
Well, I mean, talking about in the old days, all commercial gear was uncomfortable to wear, especially the hard hat and I had quite a hard hat diving. And you’ve only got to observe anybody in any frame of life what to do with their hands, touching their face, etc, and then you realise once you head is encased in a big hard hat you cannot touch your face, and the bead of, the perspiration on your nose would drive you wild, absolutely wild. From the hard hat you come on to the hard hat systems as commercial hard hats developed with intercoms etc in them and also a spit tube attached where you could suck in a little bit of sea water and spit it onto your face- there’s even been, I think, refinements on that method as well.
