Starting out
"I started surfing through my Dad"
I started surfing through my Dad, he used to surf in the late sixties, early seventies and he got me into the sport.
When we started surfing, there was maybe half a dozen surfers and that was about it, unlike today where there are maybe ninety people out on the beach at one time.
It was very hard to get equipment; surfboards, wetsuits, accessories. Mainly, you had to go down to Cornwall and even down there it wasn’t dead easy to get hold of but up north there was virtually no outlets for surfing equipment.
