Stephen grew up in Tynemouth and learnt to surf through his father. Stephen owns the Tynemouth Surf Company and has an integral role in running the O’Neill Surf Championships.

"Generally, I like to, I surf on my local beach"

Generally, I like to, I surf on my local beach, which is the Long Sands. It’s convenient for when I’m working in the shop just to nip out for an hour every now and again. Preferably I like to surf Hartley, which is a few miles up the coast, next to the St Mary’s Lighthouse, but realistically I’ll surf anywhere where the swells are good. We’ll travel a lot for surfing.
