Tim was one of the first surfers in Saltburn when the scene began in the 1960s. Since then he has seen many changes in equipment, conditions and numbers of surfers.

Learning to surf
"Well, it’s a hard sport to master because it’s all about balance and getting your balance right"
Well, it’s a hard sport to master because it’s all about balance and getting your balance right, transferring you weight and... I, initially when I started I was getting right sick of it and I thought I’m going to pack this in but then all of a sudden it seemed to click. And you get away with it, and then once, once you get away, you’re alright.
