Number of callouts and working with other rescue services
"Over the last five years, we’ve averaged 110 calls a year"
Over the last five years, we’ve averaged 110 calls a year, so we’re literally on for two calls a week. Normally in the busiest times during the summer period, when there’s more people using the water and the beaches, and the cliff areas, and that’s when we have the difficulties. But again, we’re in close contact with the North Sea Volunteer Lifeguards who provide the lifeguards for the beaches for North Tyneside. We’re all tied into the same radio communication system, same as the lifeboat, so we have a full, extended lifesaving system going during the summer. We’re involved as the brigade, the lifeguards are involved, and the lifeboat.
