Olympic Posters

The 1972 Munich Olympic Games was supported, for the first time, by an advertising campaign using posters with strong individual designs created by the great Pop Artists of the day, such as David Hockney, Serge Paliokov, Allen Jones and Max Bill. In the year of the London 2012 Games, this exhibition shows 19 of these posters as part of our Olympic celebrations.

Racing Bikes
16 June - 4 November 2012

This exhibition will explore the history of cycle racing, which emerged as a major spectator sport of the working classes in the 1870s and was only overtaken by football in the 1890s.

Featuring a range of objects and images from the collection, this exhibition will track the development of the sport, from the introduction of the Victorians’ Penny Farthing racing machine to the hi-tech super bikes of the 21st century Olympic Games.
