Culture Shop! Free Cinema-style Screenings in Eldon Square

9 August – 11 September 2010, 9.30am – 5.30pm
Eldon Square, next to Past Times
Free entry

People can take time out from shopping and relax in the Culture Shop! - a space in Eldon Square that has been transformed into a comfy cinema-style area screening digital stories from Culture Shock, one of the world’s largest digital storytelling projects.

In addition Culture Shop! is running free one-day digital storytelling workshops for anyone who wants to have a go. Throughout August, the Culture Shock team will be offering people the opportunity to create their own digital story inspired by museums and galleries and have it added to museum archives.

Those taking part will work with the team to script, record and edit a digital story using Apple Macbooks. Lunch will also be provided.

Free one-day workshops take place from 10am – 4pm at the Culture Shop! on:

Tuesday 10 August

Thursday 12 August

Saturday 14 August

Tuesday 17 August

Thursday 19 August

Tuesday 24 August

Thursday 26 August

Saturday 28 August

Spaces are limited on these sessions and booking is essential. For dates and times or to book a free place call (0191) 277 2297 or email cultureshock@twmuseums.org.uk.

Also anyone who stops by the Culture Shop! could be in with a chance of winning an iPod Touch simply by filling in an evaluation form and saying what you think of the digital stories on show.
