Renowned ceramic artist to create a new artwork about Gateshead

The Shipley Art Gallery has commissioned celebrated ceramic artist Paul Scott to create an artwork about the regeneration of Gateshead.
During Spring and Summer 2010, Paul will be researching the history of Gateshead and talking to the people who live there about what the changes have meant to them, and what it means to be a Gateshead resident.
Paul will use his findings as inspiration for a new artwork. The piece will be the first addition to the Shipley's internationally important craft collection to represent the area and people of Gateshead.
Paul is known across the world for his ceramics which combine traditional prints with socially subversive statements.
Paul will keep visitors up to date via his blog which will be updated regularly with details about the project and the final artwork.
