Jo Catling by Chloe

Jo visits schools and works with children and teachers. She takes artefacts with her for the children to handle, look at and draw. Children also visit her at the Museum and she shows them around. Some children think the Temple of Mithras is scary (we don't!). The best part of her job is meeting lots of people and she loves having Roman feast days at schools. Her worst moment was when a child fainted! By Jessica and Sarah

Favourite Artefact
Jo's favourite object in the Museum is this jewellery mould. She likes the amazing detail of the tiny designs, particularly on the faces.
The mould was used to make jewellery from thin sheets of gold. A gold sheet was laid over the mould and hammered. Then the shapes were cut out to make earings, rings or brooches. Jo would love to discover a piece of jewellery that matched a pattern on this mould.
