Philippa Walton by Abby

Philippa is the Finds Liaison Officer at the Museum. She says, "I never know what I'm going to find when I come to work". She identifies and
records artefacts found by people and lets them know if they can be called treasure! Amongst the things people have brought Philippa are a Roman brooch, a glass bracelet and a pre-historic axe
head. One day she might see pieces of 20th Century flowerpots and the next, Roman coins. It all helps us find out about the past.

Favourite Artefact
Philippa's favourite object in the Museum is this tiny carved knife handle. It was found at South Sheilds, Tyne and Wear and is about 70mm in height. She is interested in everything to do with Gladiators and thinks this artefact is really beautiful.
