Gildas

Gildas was a Christian monk living in the west of Britain during the sixth century AD. It is possible he lived in Wales.
His grandparents may have been alive at the time when the last Roman soldiers left for Rome. His book, ‘The Ruin of Britain’, isn’t always very accurate but his writing gives an idea of what it might have been like living in Britain when Roman rule
broke down.
