During
the Spring Term the children in Coquet Class used the Museum
of Antiquities as a focus for some of their literacy work. They
prepared questions to ask Andrew Parkin, the Museum Education
Officer and Edwin Evans, the Museum Technician when they visited
the Museum of Antiquities.
When
they got back to school Coquet class used the information they
had to design their own leaflets to persuade others to visit
the Museum of Antiquities.
The
Museum staff were so impressed with the children's leaflets that
they decided to use them to make a new leaflet. HunterJohnstone,
a local design and print company, designed a new leaflet using
the children's ideas and drawings.
At
the official launch of the new leaflet the children of St. Andrew's
acted as hosts to the invited guests who included the Vice Chancellor
of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and the Mayor of Blyth.
The children were confident as they showed guests around their
Museum, explaining the exhibits and directing them to their personal
favourites.
