Our Wheel BroochUse the stencil below to make your own Wheel Brooch.
1) Colour in the stencil and stick it to a piece of card.
2) Cut it out.
3) Stick a safety pin to the back with sticky tape.

We stuck our stencil on the back of gold card before we cut it out, then decorated it with sequins. You could use beads.

This Dragonesque Brooch looks more tricky but have a go!
Our Dragonesque Brooch1) Colour in the stencil and stick it to a piece of card.
2) Cut it out.
3) Stick a safety pin to the back with tape.
We cut our stencil from gold card and then used coloured foil and sequins for the decoration.

Make beads the Celtic way!
These beads are made in a similar way to those found at Arbeia Roman Fort, South Shields.
Beads
You will need: Coloured modelling clay (Fimo or similar) in black, white and two other colours, we used orange and green. Cocktail sticks and a knife.
One Two
1) Roll out two thin 'sausages' in your chosen colours. Make them about 5mm in diameter. 2) Roll out two slightly fatter 'sausages' in white clay. Flatten them and roll them very thinly, you could use a rolling pin but a round pencil will do the job just as well! Cut the white strips to the same length as the coloured 'sausages'.
Three
Four
3) Wrap a white strip around each 'sausage' and then gently roll them to smooth the edges. Use a knife to slice the 'sausages' thinly.* 4) Make beads by rolling a small amount of black clay in the palm of your hand. The beads need to be about 1.5 cms in diameter.
Five
Six
5) Stick six of the coloured slices onto the bead, using three of each colour. Press them gently onto the bead and then roll it in your hands to make the surface smooth again 6) Carefully push a cocktail stick through the middle of the bead to make hole for the thread. Don't take it out (you might be able to get two beads on one stick). Cook the beads, following the instructions on the packet of clay. Ours took about 20 minutes.*
Seven
* You may need an adult to help you do this bit.
7) Cool the beads slightly, then pull out the cocktail sticks. Leave the finished beads to cool completely then thread them together to make a necklace.
