Look at art in a fun way, young children are encouraged to explore the galleries and paintings through play, games, stories, songs, and a making activity.
 
These workshops have been designed in partnership with Early Years providers and KS1 teachers. They will support a child’s early experiences of an art gallery through fun and interactive games and hands on activities. Sessions are 1 hour. Recommended ratio: 1 adult per 6 children.

Themes you can book are:

•    Colour and Shapes
Explore colour and shape in the paintings through games, songs, stories and making activity.

•    Making Faces
Children will investigate 18th and 19th century portraits and create a simple portrait to take away.

•    Seaside Fun
Learn about the seascapes in the Northern Spirit gallery through giant collage and other fun activities. Then create a seascape collage to take back to school.

•    Animal Hunt – free teacher led activity
Animals are on the loose in the Art Gallery. Can you find them using our animal trail, full of sounds and pictures? This is a self led workshop but if you would like a gallery learning officer to lead it for you we are happy to help.
