Designs for Life

Shipley Art Gallery
Keystages: KS2, KS3
Subject: Art, Craft and Design, Design and Technology
03 Sep 12 - 19 Jul 13 - Booking required

These practical hands on sessions are based on the range of historical and contemporary objects our permanent exhibition, Designs for Life, and our unique handling collection.

Pupils analyse the contribution design makes to our lives by exploring a range of historical and contemporary objects in the galleries. Older students work in teams to develop a design solution for a fictional client, based on the objects in the gallery. The workshop combines observation, object handling, drawing, discussion and problem-solving. They develop their design vocabulary, evaluation, research, critical and design thinking skills

Charges: £60
