How to book

To make a group visit booking and to book school workshops or resources for your visit, please contact the Discovery Learning Team directly by phoning 0191 2772174 or 0191 2772183. Phone bookings are preferred so we can discuss the individual needs of your group. You can also e-mail us at learning@twmuseums.org.uk.

Facilities

Packed lunch areas must be booked in advance due to limited availability. The museum has accessible toilets and baby changing facilities, fully accessible galleries, wheelchairs available on request, and a café and shop for visitors. Audio guides are also available in different languages.

Visits to the Museum which are led by a teacher can also take advantage of our secure Learning Room. You can hire this flexible space for £25 (half a day) and have full use of the interactive whitebaord, tables and mats. For more information please contact the Discovery Learning Team directly on (0191) 277 2183.

On the day

There are pay-and-display council car parks outside the museum main entrance including disabled bays big enough for mini buses. There are no coach parking areas but buses can drop off outside the museum. We are only a short walk from Central Station and St James Metro Station.

On arrival, groups should sign in at the desk in the entrance and staff will assist with bag storage. We recommend group leaders familiarise themselves with the museum before the visit because it is a large building. If you have pre-booked a schools workshop a member of the Learning Team will meet you.
