Things to see and do

New displays include Hadrian’s Wall, Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Greeks.  A 'Bio-Wall' features hundreds of animals from across the world and in Fossil Stories; children can come face to face with a life-size T-rex skeleton. The region’s wildlife can be explored in Natural Northumbria and younger children can have fun in the Mouse House. Explore! is the place to be if you want to learn more about the Museum’s collections, while World Cultures and Ice Age to Iron Age complete this amazing new attraction.

On the day

There is a lay-by beside the museum on Claremont Rd for coaches to drop off and pick up only. Please ensure that the coach driver has made alternative arrangements for parking while you are in the museum. There is no public parking at the museum, with the exception of a number of accessible bays. These need to be pre-booked.

The main entrance for pre-booked groups is at the rear of the museum – look for the ‘Schools/Groups Entrance’ sign. You will need to press the wall mounted buzzer and a member of museum staff will meet you.

You need to have the booking confirmation letter with you and register the number of children and adults in your group with a member of museum staff. If your arrival is delayed, please let the museum know.
