Things to see and do
The Designs for Life gallery provides a stimulating learning environment in which themes including form and function, materials and manufacturing, pattern, chairs and lighting can be explored in an interactive way. The Shipley is also home to a fine art collection which includes Tintoretto's Christ Washing the Feet of the Disciples and William Irving's Blaydon Races. The Henry Rothschild Collection of 20th century studio ceramics is also on long term loan to the Shipley and will shortly be housed in open storage in a new Study Centre
The variety of the Shipley’s collections and quality of our temporary exhibition programme ensures the Gallery can provide a cross-curricular programme of workshops to education groups of all ages.
Recently launched - the Design for Life website is a great website way to get lots of Design and Technology ideas for your visit to the Shipley Art Gallery. Click here to view all the resources and learn more about the project.
