Habitat Explorers
Monday 5 September 2011 to Friday 20 July 2012
KS1, KS2 - Science
Habitat Explorers offers students the opportunity to discover how animals have adapted to different habitats and climates. Whether your students are learning about local wildlife or more exotic creatures we can offer a unique experience that will get them engaged in the natural world.
This session begins with a 20 minute introduction, where the children get to see and touch some stuffed animals and learn about where they live.
The introduction is complemented with a teacher-led gallery session using our innovative and interactive ‘Animal Explorer Bags’. Children can investigate the Living Planet or Natural Northumbria galleries by using the bags to explore the special features of eight different animals, from red squirrels to polar bears.
A choice of three different topic areas can be covered in Habitat Explorers:
Bags of Beasts – exploring variety and habitats
Creatures of the Night – focusing on nocturnal animals
Predators and Prey – exploring food chains and websFree
Available on Tuesdays and Thursdays
