A workshop in which pupils evaluate a selection of historical and contemporary chairs in the Shipley Art Gallery’s collection.
Pupils explore the history, design and construction of seating, the suitability of various designs and materials as well as the many different ways of decorating furniture. They then design their own chair and take part in a chair building challenge using model chairs that the children can build themselves.
